A Garden for Tomorrow

Blossoming Olive A Garden for Tomorrow

“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow” - Audrey Hepburn

I am sure you have heard or perhaps seen this classic Audrey Hepburn quote before, especially if you are a gardener or flower/plant lover. I don’t remember the first time I came across this quote, but I have loved it ever since and it has been one that I have kept in my favorites list for a long time! It’s such a simple statement that captures not only the essence of gardening but more importantly the essence of hope.

To plant a garden or to even just place one small young plant in some dirt is indeed a hopeful nod to seeing what will happen next. When we decide to plant something, whatever it might be, we do it with great vision of what it can become and then we invest our time and energy to care for it so that it has the best possible opportunity to become all it is meant to be. That is beautiful to me! And, especially during this time of disruption and uncertainty, that something as simple as placing seed or a plant in dirt offers each of us beauty, possibilities, and hope!

Perhaps gardening or planting is not your preference but instead you find beauty and contentment in just simply enjoying the flowers, plants, and produce of another’s garden. Either way you approach it, there is hope to be found by anyone and everyone in a garden that has been planted. And, most of all, a sweet reminder to each of us that there is something beautiful, delicious, and wonderful to look forward to tomorrow.

Smiles, hugs, and happy planting!
Michele
